R32 refrigerant and challenges
The disadvantage of R32 is its more sensitive Flammability compared to e.g. R410A refrigerant. The safety classification of R32 is A2L. This causes challenges for the qualifications of the installers and the placement of the equipment in the property.
The common refrigerant for air source heat pumps has been R410A, which is a mixture of R32 and R125 in a 50/50 mass ratio. The ban on the use of R410A will come into effect at the beginning of 2025. R32 is used in numerous air source heat pumps today.
Applications and use
R32 is suitable for refrigerant applications used by industry and air conditioning systems in residential buildings and air heat pumps. It has already replaced the commonly used refrigerant R410 in air source heat pumps.
The F gas regulation prohibits the use of gases that accelerate the greenhouse effect in air conditioners containing less than 3.0 kg of refrigerant. In practice, the regulation applies, among other things, to all conventional air/air heat pumps.
As a flammable refrigerant, it is not suitable as a direct replacement gas for R410A. The flammability of R32 must be taken into account during recovery. R32 only ignites at concentrations of 14 – 30%.

R32 refrigerant is gaining popularity
R32 refrigerant is gaining popularity as a low temperature refrigerant and replacement gas in R410A applications. It has a lower carbon footprint than most other HFCs. For example, compared to R410, the atmospheric warming effect of R32 is about one third.
EU regulations on refrigerants are changing. Darment is not responsible for the correctness of the information on the site. The customer must himself ensure the compatibility of the equipment and the refrigerant, and that the facility meets the regulations.
R32 kylmäaine saavuttaa suosiota
R32 kylmäaine saavuttaa suosiota matalien lämpötilojen kylmäaineena ja korvaavana kaasuna R410A-sovelluksissa. Sen hiilijalanjälki on pienempi kuin useimpien muiden HFC-aineiden. Esimerkiksi R410:aan verrattuna R32:n ilmakehää lämmittävä vaikutus on noin kolmannes.

R32 kylmäaine ja haasteet
R32 huonona puolena on sen herkempi syttyvyys esim. R410A kylmäaineeseen verrattuna. R32:n turvallisuusluokitus on A2L. Tämä aiheuttaa haasteita asentajien pätevyyksille sekä laitteiston sijoittelulle kiinteistössä.
Yleinen ilmalämpöpumppujen kylmäaine on ollut R410A, joka on R32:n ja R125:n seos massasuhteessa 50/50. R410A:n käyttökielto astuu voimaan vuoden 2025 alussa. Lukuisissa ilmalämpöpumpuissa käytetään nykyään R32:ta.
Sovellukset ja käyttö
R32 soveltuu teollisuuden käyttämiin kylmäainesovelluksiin ja asuinrakennusten ilmastointijärjestelmiin sekä ilmalämpöpumppuihin. Sillä on jo korvattu ilmalämpöpumpuissa yleisesti käytettyä kylmäainetta R410.
F-kaasuasetus kieltää kasvihuoneilmiötä kiihdyttävien kaasujen käytön alle 3,0 kg kylmäainetta sisältävissä ilmastointilaitteissa. Käytännössä asetus koskee muun muassa kaikkia tavanomaisia ilma-/ilmalämpöpumppuja.
Syttyvänä kylmäaineena se ei sovellu suoraan R410A:n korvaavaksi kaasuksi. Talteenotossa on huomioitava R32 syttyvyys. R32 syttyy vain 14 – 30 % pitoisuuksilla.
